About the Event
Have you wanted to embellish your Elizabethans with blackwork but you are not sure if it is appropriate for your costume? Does silk and metal thread embroidery interest you but you don’t know which garments it was found on? In our presentation, we will examine primary source documents, extant garments, and iconography in Elizabethan life, how they affected clothing, and how embroidery was used to announce social status at all levels of society.
In addition to our discussion, we will be presenting a hands-on workshop on simple whitework embellishments that are found on many garments using period appropriate materials. An optional kit will be available for purchase at the event.
We are thrilled to join Tudor Tailor and the other wonderful instructors at what will prove to be a fascinating symposium.
Registration is now open for this event. If you are interested in attending the seminar, please check out this FaceBook page for details to register.
